Wine Tasting Notes
Chardonnay grapes grown in Clarksburg are known for their characteristic apple and pear aromas and flavours. Bogle winemakers have captured these refreshing and ripe notes while allowing them to develop and intensify through stainless steel fermentation.Additional grapes are vinted using the techniques of barrel fermentation, sur-lies ageing and partial malolactic fermentation,which creates an elegant counterpart to the fresh fruit with tones of spicy vanilla and nutmeg. The creamy mouth feel adds just the final touch on the finish, reminiscent of an apple and pear galette.
Wine Makers Notes
Although the Bogle family has been farming since the 1800’s, it wasn’t until 1968 that the father and son team of Warren and Chris Bogle planted their first 20 acres of wine grapes in Clarksburg, California. Clarksburg is a small farming community nestled in the Sacramento Delta. Today Bogle Vineyards farms over 1,000 acres of wine grapes in the Delta region. While the winery was established ten years after the first grapes were planted, it has grown tremendously along with the vineyards. Bogle Winery is currently producing 100,000 cases of wine. Winemaker Christopher Smith joined the winery in 1992. He sources fruit from some of the best vineyards throughout the State of California and blends that fruit with the best grapes from our Estate Vineyards in Clarksburg.

I am not much of a wine person I find them too dry. Are Chardonnay dry like wine? The only wine I have every liked was a fortified wine from Portugal though I cannot remember the name of it for the life of me.

I came across a really gorgeous Californian Chardonnay way back but I can’t for the life of me remember what part of California it came from. If someone could enlighten me I’d appreciate it, because I haven’t seen it since. I’d remember it because the label was quite distinctive. It was an old style cartoon drawing of a gentleman toad with a glass in his hand. It was called Toad something or other. Any help on it?
