Introduction

Just outside Sydney to the North, about a two hours drive away, lies a hilly wine region called Hunter Valley, which is nicknamed “Wine Country”. Here there are many wineries that produce excellent wines. The best-known wine brand in this region is Lindemans. But there are also many small, exclusive wineries in this region, which are ready to receive wine lovers.

hunter valley wineHunter Valley is the oldest wine region of Australia and the true today as most traditional appellation of the country. The area can be divided into two parts; Lower Hunter Valley, Upper Hunter Valley.

If you are interested in some of the wines below, just click the two banners below and go to white wine>chardonnay>wine regions>hunter valley. For delivery by WineSale within Australia territory only.

All the wines have been rated and you can read here how this system works.

WineSale.com.au

The wine sale company, of which I am an affiliate and as such have been promoting their wines, has meanwhile discontinued this affiliate service. This is why I was forced to cancel the reviews of the wines offered through this site.

In order to resume my services to you, I am looking for other companies to promote their wines for the Australian market. However, at the moment none seem to be present. There was one such firm available, but it will not allow affiliates from outside Australia. I will keep looking for next opportunities which will allow me to review the excellent Australian Chardonnays again and offer you the best in the world.

What do the ratings mean?

Score Explanation
95–100 A classic great wine
90–94 An outstanding wine of superior character and style
85–89 A very good wine with special qualities
80-84 A good solid, well-made wine
75–79 A mediocre wine, drinkable but may have minor flaws
50–74 Not recommended

Wine testing is certainly my thing. I have never been to Sydney and this Hunter Valley. I go more often to Napa Valley in California. By reading your review I want to visit it badly!

Thank you for your kind words. Napa Valley certainly is a good choice, as it produces USA’s best Chardonnays, which also compete with the best in the world. Cheers, Jerry

I have heard about Hunter Valley and its winery but sadly to date I still haven’t got a chance to visit the place the last time I visited Australia. Maybe next time I’ll try to make it there when I’m in the country.

Jerry thanks for sharing this article with us. You have great taste when it comes to wine.

    Cheers!

Thank you Cathy, I hope you will have a chance to visit next time. Mind you that Australia has other great Chardonnay producing regions like Adelaide Hills, Margaret River and McLaren Vale. Cheers, Jerry

    Hello Jerry,
I love Australia and the Hunter Valley.
I agree with you that they have great wines there.
The wines you review here all sound fantastic. I will try to find them where I live.
Do they export those wines to other countries or did I understand it correctly that they are only available in the region?

Thanks for your reaction Moritz. The wines I offered are unfortunately delivered within Australian territory only. Almost all affiliate programs for wine are very localized. I had tried to offer Australian Chardonnays through Amazon, however, at one point they told me that promoting intoxicating products would not attract commissions! There is another affiliate program, named Lazada, Singapore, offering very good Australian Chardonnay, but again they only deliver locally. You have touched on an issue here, which I will investigate further. Maybe this is a hole in the market! Cheers, Jerry

I study wine and spirits and I’m always intrigued by regions from other countries. I’ve always wanted to check out Australia’s wine regions like the one north of Sydney and the southern regions too but never got to chance to even visit the country lol. If ever go there, it’ll be thanks to your review Jerry thanks for sharing this with us. I’ve bookmarked your site and will be dropping by from time to time 😀
