Wine Tasting Notes

A brilliant yellow colour with greenish highlights, the wine shows fresh and complex aromas with delicate notes of tropical fruit such as pineapple and citrus fruit in addition to hazelnut butter and vanilla. It is a wine with good structure, elegance, and minerality as well as a vibrant and balanced acidity.

About the Wine maker

The Antinori family of Florence, one of the world’s oldest and most distinguished wine producers, has lived in Tuscany since the 14th century and celebrated its 625th anniversary as wine makers in 2010. The current company president, Marchese Piero Antinori, believes in the tradition that the primary role of wine is to accompany food and enhance the dining experience. In Florence, the Antinori family has led a “Renaissance” in Italian wine making by combining long traditions, a love of authenticity and a dynamic innovative spirit.

Wine Tasting Notes

When poured, the wine’s straw-yellow hues remind one of the color of the ripening Chardonnay grapes bathed in the summer’s sun that lose their green tints to varying degrees of yellow. To the nose, Pomino is an explosion of flowers including sweet wisteria and intense lilies, which are followed by a fruity aroma of pears and tropical fruits such as pineapple and mango. Upon entering the mouth, the wine is soft and enveloping and combines freshness with minerality, introducing a wine that fully reflects the Pomino terroir.

A fine wine for aperitifs, vegetarian antipasti, or large fish, such as salmon.

About the Wine maker

The Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi is one of Italy’s oldest wineries, with a history dating to the 1300s. The family has included medieval knights, bankers, lawyers and patrons of the arts. The Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi is one of the most significant wine producers in Italy, with nine estates—and roughly 2,500 acres—in Tuscany. The family has been growing wine since the late 19th century, when they became the first in Tuscany to import and plant French vine cuttings. Because they have been producing wines for more than 700 years, to experience Frescobaldi is to glimpse the history of Florence, from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Wine Tasting Notes

Fermented and aged in stainless steel without malolactic fermentation, this offers juicy citrus and apple flavors lifted by zesty acidity. Vibrant and fresh, it’s a summertime wine for backyard barbecues.

About the Wine maker

An in-depth understanding of all the factors underlying a specific sensory experience is of course the goal of anyone who strives for a deeper appreciation of the fruit of the winemaker’s art. The production of outstanding grapes and wines is linked to a broad range of factors, but considering these in a cursory manner will not reveal the intimate character of a wine-making enterprise: instead of simply co-relating good quality with terroir or with wine-making practices, one must attempt to trace the synergy of agents which interact to produce that wine. In the following pages, then, we intend to consider only those factors which contribute the most to defining the character of Vie di Romans’ wines; they fall into three categories: environment, viticulture, and man.

Wine Tasting Notes

Straw yellow with green shades. Notes of peach and pineapple, the wine is fresh and savory. This wine shows wonderful acidity that offers freshness and also makes it suitable for ageing.

A great companion to seafood, white meat and a variety of appetizers.

About the Wine maker

Sicily makes a lot of wine. From Marsala, the sweet, fortified wine of the region, to up-and-coming Nero d’Avola, this hot and hilly region is diverse. Sicily was at one time more quantity focused than quality, and while it’s still producing a great deal of wine, the quality coming out is much better. With poor soil (great for grapes), warm sunshine, little rainfall and good mountain terrains, this little island is perfect for making the good stuff.
